Awesome STEM Instructor

RHA Afterschool Program STEM Instructor Charlene Bumphus is a certified educational professional with a passion for teaching kids about the sciences and natural resources. Since the program's start in Nov. 2019, Ms. Bumphus has been an important reason why kids are loving to learn (and it shows with their grades.)

From the Beginning

Ms. Bumphus teaching kids during one of the first STEM sessions during the Summer of 2019. She keep up to 20 youths well behaved and engaged in the subject at hand.  The Harris Gardens (and other) kids love her!

NC Kids Summer Food Program

Felts Lewis pose with Ray of the NC Kids Summer Food Program, receiving Site of the Year for providing free meals to kids and delivering a STEM curriculum.  This effort led the Housing Authority to establish an afterschool program focusing on science, technology, engineering and mathematics, starting in the Harris Gardens community.

Members of the Piedmont Community College Success Program chose the RHA Afterschool Program for student enrichment, volunteering to help kids at Harris Gardens Apartments with STEM projects and homework.
