Golf Event Raises Funds for Affordable Housing; Homelessness

Charity Golf Tournament Raises $8,000 for Affordable Housing and Homelessness

Roxboro Community Redevelopment Corporation (RCRC), an affiliate non-profit of Roxboro Housing Authority, hosted the second annual RCRC Golf Challenge. The fundraiser to address homelessness and to provide affordable housing in Roxboro and Person Co. took place Friday, September 15, 2023. The event venue was Caswell Pines Golf Club.

At last year's inaugural event, over 75 local and regional golfers and supporters helped raise over $5,000. This year, almost $8,000 was raised.

An awards luncheon took place immediately following the golf challenge. First, second and third place awards (gift cards) were awarded to the winners along with closest to the pin and longest drive.

Cash generated from a 50/50 raffle and RCRC merchandise were also awarded.

RHA receives over 70 calls a month from persons in the community that have no place of their own to call home. RCRC applied for two grants worth $7 million to construct a new homeless shelter and add new affordable housing units in Roxboro. N.C. Housing Finance Agency, the administrator of HOME-ARP funds from the federal government, is set to make a decision in Dec. 2023.
