ROXBORO, N.C.--A representative of Person County Emergency Management Services (EMS) provided information to 20 Roxboro Housing Authority residents, staff and visitors regarding what to do in case of an emergency and/or fire.

Shawn Bradsher,  chief of the Community Risk Reduction Division, offered tips on how to keep residents safe. A few examples were to have an evacuation plan, keep your unit clutter free and have a pot lid close by to cover grease fires.

RHA Executive Director Felts Lewis shared that all units have two fire stop/fire suppressant canisters underneath the range hood to quickly extinguish grease fires.

Event organizer Jonica Ragland, RHA's Resident Opportunities Self Sufficiency (ROSS) Coordinator, gave out to all attendees first aid kits and flash lights.  A hotdog lunch was provided.

The Roxboro Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., spearheaded by Delta member and RHA Commissioner Angela Brown, donated $100 to sponsor the event.

Attendees also received blankets, an assortment of cleaning supplies, hand sanitizers and facial masks provided by Ahava Outreach Ministries of Roxboro.
