Three-Day Hands-On HVAC Training Held at RHA
Maintenance staff from across North Carolina have come to Roxboro Housing Authority starting Tues., June 11 to learn skills that are in high demand--heating, ventilation and air conditioning.
About 30 Maintenance staff, including RHAs staff, are receiving training to pass an EPA certification to purchase and handle refrigerant and to work on HVAC equipment.
Buzz Vontesmar of Paducah, KY is an expert in the field and trains housing authority staff nationwide. He is a certified EPA trainer. His goals are to have each trainee pass the certification test, learn how to properly troubleshoot inside and outside units and to properly maintain the units.
Roxboro Housing expects its staff to cut down on HVAC service costs by 60 percent and to deliver faster service to the residents.
The agency is close to installing new A/C units at Lee Gardens Apartment Community on Lyle St. in Roxboro and will continue to install units that do not have A/C units at other sites as soon as possible.
