Moratorium on Evictions Due to Nonpayment of Rent

Here is a newly released flyer from the U.S. Dept. of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) regarding a moratorium on evictions due to non- payment of rent due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  This applies to residents of public housing and to housing choice voucher holders. (Roxboro Housing Authority does not operate the HCV or Section 8 program in Person Co.)

Residents are required to pay rent if financially able to and to avoid eviction after the moratorium, which ends July 24, 2020.

HUD allows Roxboro Housing Authority (RHA) to evict residents for all other lease violations, including criminal and illegal activities on or off RHA properties and for not complying to re-certification requirements to name a few examples. Waivers are in place to assist with receiving income verification, etc. for re-certification.
