Roxboro--Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Sigma Nu Omega Chapter in Roxboro, N.C. donated a new book box and books at Roxboro Housing Authority's (RHA) Weatherly Heights Apartments. This donation establishes a mini library, which any housing authority resident can use.

On Feb. 22, 2022, a ribbon-cutting ceremony took place.  The AKAs donated over 100 new children's books, which are available NOW. Sorority members purchased the books.  Lowe's donated book box building materials.

Executive Director Felts Lewis cut the ceremonial ribbon, and Family Self Sufficiency Coordinator Larry Mayfield attended to support the endeavor.

Lewis said the new book box and books are part of the agency's transformation of improving the lives of residents and the community in which they live.

RHA parents and grandparents: Get books and read to your children. Kids are allowed to get books, too! This is a great and timely resource for our Afterschool program.
