Resident and all members of Resident's family or household resident are parties to a written lease with Roxboro Housing Authority (Landlord). This lease addendum states the following additional terms, conditions and rules which are hereby incorporated into the lease. A breach of this lease addendum shall give each party all the rights contained herein, as well as the rights in the Lease.
Purpose of Smoke Free Housing Policy. Pursuant to HUD Notice PIH 2012-25, PIH 2009-21 and the final rule effective February 3, 2017 Roxboro Housing Authority (RHA) has proposed a Smoke-Free policy. The parties desire to mitigate (i) the irritation and known health effects of secondhand smoke; (ii) the increased maintenance, cleaning, and abatement costs from smoking; and (iii) the increased risk of fire from smoking.
All of the terms and provisions of this smoke-free housing policy are specifically made a part of the dwelling lease enforced at the apartments owned and operated by the Roxboro Housing Authority.
Effective Date. The smoke-free policy will be effective for all residents, household members, employees, guests, and service persons on May 1, 2018 at the next annual lease renewal for each resident household. Residents must execute a smoke-free lease addendum as part of the annual lease renewal process.
Scope: This policy applies to all persons living in the Roxboro Housing Authority apartments including residents, their guests and visitors and to all persons entering the Roxboro Housing Authority complexes including the Roxboro Housing Authority contractors and employees.
